About USI

Advancing the future of residential communities through systems, research and policy.

The Urban Systems Institute (USI) is an independent research and policy organization dedicated to advancing the future of residential communities.

OUR GLOBAL PERSPECTIVE

USI operates as a distributed intelligence network. While headquartered in Toronto, our insights are shaped by active research nodes in North America, East Africa, and Latin America.

INDEPENDENCE & INTEGRITY

USI maintains strict independence from commercial operators to ensure objectivity, neutrality, and uncompromised credibility in all its work.

About Founder

Nicolas W. Del Valle

FOUNDER & STRATEGIC ARCHITECT, URBAN SYSTEMS INSTITUTE

Nicolas serves as the non-operational architect of the Institute. His role is to define the strategic direction, curate the advisory network, and ensure the intellectual integrity of USI’s frameworks.

He holds operational experience across North American, East African, and Latin American markets distilling on-the-ground realities into high-level, scalable systems.

He is the designer of the system, not the operator of the institute. The institution must feel bigger than one person.

USI exists to build the intellectual foundation for stronger, more resilient, and future-ready residential communities.
